PerfTech Presents: InterMEDIA Performance
March 25, 2014
The students will perform their own compositions that explore the intersections of sounds, visuals, performance and technology. Students will take unusual approaches to building musical performances.
“More than multimedia,” says Jeff Morris, Instructional Assistant Professor, “intermedia is combination of multiple modes of expression so that they are intertwined: you can’t remove one without the composition falling apart. Our students are using this approach to explore hybrid forms of expression.”
The PerfTech initiative within the Texas A&M University Department of Performance Studies gives students research experiences through technology-based performances.
“This performance is also a study in interdisciplinary collaboration,” adds Morris. “The concert will consist of compositions conceived by duos and trios of students from diverse backgrounds in addition to a performance devised by all the students together.”
